Lumbrokinase (LK) is a group of six novel proteolytic enzymes derived from the earthworm Lumbricus rubellus. These enzymes have potent fibrin-dissolving properties, decrease fibrinogen, lower blood viscosity, and markedly reduce platelet aggregation. The last 10 years have been a busy time for scientists exploring the medicinal treasures of earthworms.
