Many studies showed that resveratrol could inhibit the formation of oxidative stress due to its very high antioxidant potential, thus exerting an antiaging effect.
It also exhibits antitumor activity, and is considered a potential candidate for prevention and treatment of several types of cancer.
Even more, other bioactive effects, namely as anti-inflammatory, anticarcinogenic, cardioprotective, vasorelaxant, phytoestrogenic and neuroprotective have also been reported.
Additionally, numerous experimental studies have illustrated that resveratrol is beneficial to a broad range of diseases, including CVDs, diabetes, obesity, liver diseases, Alzheimer’s disease, and Parkinson’s disease through redox/inflammatory/immune signaling pathways as well as the interplay between lipid and glucose metabolism.
