Benzoin Benzoin oil, also known as Friars Balsam, has a calming effect that can relieve depression and feelings of sadness. Its sweet, balsamic vanilla-like aroma can be used in steam inhalation as a treatment for bronchitis, colds and similar conditions. It presents more like a syrupy liquid than an oil, but it is easy to dilute and is often used as a fixative in soaps and fragrances.

• Add 3-4 drops to a bowl of steaming hot water, cover your head with a towel and breathe in the vapour
• Add 1 part Benzoin Essential Oil to 2 parts Rosewater to make a very effective skin cleanser
• Apply directly to cracked, chapped, dry skin and to promote the healing of wounds and sores
